Zack and Cody Fans Help Disney Draw Millions of Video Streams
Did you miss a certain episode of the Suite Life of Zack and Cody? Do you want to see a favorite episode again? Of course you do and that's part of why Disney's broadband video service is doing so amazingly well.
Disney Channel has drawn 74.1 million streams of full-length broadband-video episodes of such shows as That's So Raven and The Suite Life of Zack and Cody since launching its broadband service June 2, network officials told Multichannel News Monday.
Through July 6, the site’s (www.disney.go.com/disneychannel/index.html) broadband-video section -- which also features episodes of Disney hits like Kim Possible -- has attracted 6.7 million unique users and generated 29.5 million page views, according to Disney.
Overall, the Web site has received 37.7 million unique visitors since June 2, up 42% compared with the same period a year ago. Further, it has drawn a whopping 903 million page views, up 87% versus 2005.
Disney Media Networks co-chair and Disney-ABC Television Group president Anne Sweeney praised the numbers, adding that the broadband views did not come at the expense of the network's overall ratings.
Disney Channel's 2.1 second-quarter primetime-household rating was up 21% over the same period last year.
"It really gets to what the kids want and expect, and they expect to have a broadband product where they can watch episodes of television on their computers," Sweeney told Multichannel News after Disney's Television Critics Association Tour presentation here Monday. "It's about us superserving our audience."
And you guys love it! These are no longer the days of your parents where you have to program a VCR to see Dylan and Cole Sprouse or Ashley Tisdale. These aren't even the days of your older brothers and sisters where you have to TIVO Suite Life episodes. It's 2006 and you can download and watch your fave episodes of Zack and Cody whenever you want and boy, do you!
